CASA ARTUSI is the first centre of gastronomic culture devoted to Italian home cooking. Discover the truest Italian gastronomic culture, the one developed in the home of Italian people based on the richest traditional flavours and fresh and genuine seasonal products.

 

The so-called “Casa Artusi” is located in Forlimpopoli, the home town of Pellegrino Artusi, acknowledged father of Italian cookery and author of the famous ‘Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well’ cookbook, which has gone through 14 editions since its first publication in 1891 and was translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian and Polish.

The Visit

 

A pleasant walk from the Castel (Rocca) of Forlimpopoli to Casa Artusi, introducing their history, and visit of the monumental complex of Chiesa dei Servi, an area of 2800 squares metres, with: the library (municipal library, Artusi’s collection, and a collection of Italian gastronomic books and documents; 6 Internet works stations and wi-fi), the museum, the restaurant, the wine house and the cooking school (equipped classroom with 20 fully equipped cooking stations) .

The cooking classes

 

The cookery school has a training hall with 20 workstations fully equipped for practical courses and can accommodate up to 25 course participants for demonstrations. Bigger groups can be splitted into smaller groups.

“SFOGLIA homemade fresh pasta with eggs”: An historical introduction about Italian pasta and information about raw materials. It will be shown how to prepare this typical Italian pasta: tagliatelle, pappardelle, tagliolini, garganelli, cappelletti, tortelli, ravioli ...

 

“Piadina di Romagna”: An historical introduction about the “bread of Romagna”, information about raw materials. It will be shown how to prepare the dough and how to cook it. Then Piadina will be tasted together with Squacquerone di Romagna DOP (local fresh cheese).

 

LUNCH MENU: Hand-made piadina with Squacquerone di Romagna PDO cheese, Ricotta di Romagna cheese with Savor traditional jam and Mora Romagnola salami (Slow Food), Pecorino cheese Fossa di Sogliano PDO with organic honey, vegetables with Italian Extra Vergine Olive Oil or seasonal fresh vegetables with Italian Extra Vergine Olive Oil, sale Dolce di Cervia and Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO.

Local typical Romagna Sangiovese DOC and Romagna Albana DOCG wines, waters. Fresh seasonal fruits and Espresso.

Then everybody in an individual fully equipped cooking work station will prepare the different kind of pasta: tagliatelle, pappardelle, tagliolini, garganelli, cappelletti, tortelli, ravioli ...
